Garage Siding and Roof Replacement

This client initially contacted us for just one side of her garage. The old siding was crumbling if you looked at it sideways. We removed the siding to discover that the original builder has used drywall as an exterior sheathing and it was completely crumbling. Then as we removed that drywall we discovered that the sill plate was also rotted out. A few bottle jacks later the garage wall was lifted and a new pressure treated sill plate was installed.

Once that siding project was completed the homeowner asked us to look at the rest of the garage to determine what would be next on the docket for maintenance in order to save the garage. Chris noticed some rotting in the roof decking and some other spots on the siding that it didn’t have much more life in it. The client asked for a bid on getting those done and we were off to the races to get this exterior roof and siding project completed before the Portland rains set in. Needless to say we found more sill plate rot and sheathing rot that expected. But with a little bit of elbow grease we got all of the rotten boards replaced with solid wood and put on a new roof for this garage begin the next phase of its life.
